(Singapore, 7th) According to the '2024 International Teaching and Learning Survey (TALIS 2024)' released by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Singaporean teachers are among the world leaders in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. As many as 75% of teachers reported using AI for teaching or supporting student learning, far above the global average of 36%.

This cross-national survey, reported by Xinhua News Agency, was released on Tuesday. It aims to study key aspects of the teaching profession and help countries review their education policies.

The survey shows that Singaporean teachers are not only active users of AI, but they also benefit greatly from it. Approximately 82% of teachers said that AI helps them design or improve course content, while 74% indicated that AI assists them in automating administrative tasks, thereby improving work efficiency.

This survey covered 145 national public secondary schools and 10 randomly selected private secondary schools in Singapore, with around 3,500 teachers and principals participating in the questionnaire.

In addition, Singaporean teachers also rank among the top in adopting online and blended teaching models, with 81% reporting that their schools had offered online or blended courses in the month prior to the survey.

Singapore's Ministry of Education stated: 'Although the Covid-19 pandemic forced teachers to rapidly adapt to home-based teaching, they have since successfully integrated digital tools into daily teaching, helping students cultivate self-directed and self-disciplined learning abilities.'
