(Bangkok, 7th) Thailand has welcomed more than 24 million international tourists so far this year, with Malaysian travelers ranking first.

Nattariya Tawiwong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, issued a statement today, noting that from January 1 to October 5 this year, Thailand recorded a total of 24,574,177 international tourist arrivals, generating approximately 1.135 trillion baht (100 baht equals 12 ringgit 97 sen) in foreign exchange earnings.

She said the top five source countries were Malaysia (3.53 million arrivals), China (3.51 million arrivals), India (1.81 million arrivals), Russia (1.29 million arrivals), and South Korea (1.17 million arrivals).

"In the past week, the number of international arrivals has risen significantly as Thailand enters its tourism peak season, coinciding with long holidays in several countries, including China’s National Day, Korea’s Chuseok, and India’s Gandhi Jayanti," she said.

Nattariya pointed out that with the Thai government rolling out several measures to facilitate travelers, such as the ‘Easy Travel Plan’ and exempting the TM6 arrival form, the number of international tourists is expected to maintain steady growth.

She added that Thailand is actively attracting tourists from remote markets and encouraging airlines to increase flights, further stimulating tourism growth.

This year, Thailand aims to attract at least 38 million international tourists. Last year (2024), the country received more than 35.5 million foreign visitors, with tourism revenues reaching 1.67 trillion baht.
