KUCHING: Sarawak’s growing visibility on major international platforms reflected rising global confidence in the state’s leadership in renewable energy, sustainability and regional cooperation.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said Sarawak had been increasingly invited to share its perspectives with world leaders and industry experts.
“Our participation in these conversations demonstrates that Sarawak is not just a spectator, but a valued contributor helping to shape shared solutions for the future,” he said when officiating at the Public Service Day 2025 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
Abang Johari also referred to his recent conferment of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, saying the recognition reflected the dedication and professionalism of the Sarawak Civil Service.
“Because of a disciplined, innovative and forward-looking civil service, Sarawak can embrace ambitious regional and global initiatives and translate opportunities into real benefits for our people,” he added.
As such, the Premier said Sarawak remained committed to climate-resilient and sustainable development by integrating sustainability into economic planning and infrastructure projects to reduce carbon emissions.
He reiterated that Sarawak aimed to position itself as the ‘Battery of ASEAN’ by leveraging its renewable energy capacity, natural resources and strategic location.
He said the state also aspires to become a regional force in energy transition, emerging technologies, biodiversity conservation, and the global hydrogen economy.
“Realising this vision requires disciplined planning, strong governance and seamless coordination – responsibilities that rest with our civil service,” he added.
