A Filipina maid secretly engaged in prostitution while working in Singapore, serving over a thousand clients and earning more than 100,000 Singapore dollars (about 309,000 Ringgit) in four years. One of her clients became her 'pimp' and profited 6,300 dollars; he was sentenced to six months in jail for violating the Women's Charter.
According to the Shin Min Daily News on the 3rd, the accused is a 37-year-old local man who faced six charges of violating the Women's Charter. He pleaded guilty to two of them, with the remaining charges taken into consideration during sentencing.
After pleading guilty in court on the 2nd, he was sentenced to six months in prison and fined 6,300 dollars.
The case facts show that on November 7, 2024, at around 3:14 pm, the police received a report that a maid was suspected of engaging in sex work, with a pimp profiting from it.
Investigations revealed that the woman involved is a 46-year-old Filipina, who had been working as a maid locally since 2013 and held a work permit at the time of the offense.
Around 2021, the maid met an Indian man who helped her start her prostitution activities. For every transaction, the pimp would earn a 30-dollar commission.
The accused also became the maid's client in 2021. After the Indian pimp returned to his home country, the maid asked the accused to take over as her pimp, and he agreed.
It is estimated that the maid served at least 20 to 30 clients per month, with the total number of clients reaching several thousand.
The maid charged 100 to 150 dollars for sexual services, and 80 to 100 dollars for handjobs or oral sex.
From January 2021 to February 2024, the maid paid the accused a total commission of no less than 6,300 dollars.
Between January 2021 and November 2024, the maid earned at least 108,000 dollars by providing sexual services to multiple clients.
