(Kuala Lumpur, 25th) Prime Minister Seri Anwar’s former political secretary, Dato’ Wira Fahaas, stated that the remarks made by former Minister of Economy Dato’ Seri Rafizi, which implied his involvement in the assault case against Rafizi’s son, have damaged his reputation. Fahaas has demanded Rafizi immediately and unconditionally remove all related statements and videos from his social media platforms, retract his remarks and issue a public apology within 48 hours, or further action will be taken.
Fahaas sent a letter to Rafizi through the law firm Ahmad Deniel, Ruben & Co.
According to the letter, which was provided to the media by Fahaas’s assistant, Rafizi’s comments in the video include: “Someone tried to link the attack on my child to Ismail Sabri or KJ… this is a malicious attempt to divert attention,” “Following the attack there were threatening messages, telling me to stay silent, stating ‘Stay silent! If you continue, AIDS’,” and “The information provided involves Fahaas, who is Anwar’s former political secretary and is related to transactions with his company.”
The letter indicates that these remarks have seriously damaged its client’s (Fahaas’s) reputation, exposing him to undue public scrutiny and wrongly implying his involvement in the assault incident against Rafizi’s son.
The letter continues, stating that Rafizi’s malicious publication of such remarks while the police investigation is still ongoing has seriously harmed Fahaas’s reputation, therefore he demands Rafizi immediately cease publishing or disseminating the video, or any content containing similar false information, and promptly delete content on Facebook and other relevant platforms.
“And within 48 hours from the date of this letter, make a public apology and statement of retraction on your (Rafizi’s) Facebook account and all social media platforms, and at the same time provide written confirmation that you have fully complied with the above requirements.”
The letter added that if Rafizi fails to comply within the deadline above, Fahaas reserves all rights to take legal action against Rafizi and any other responsible parties.
