Is UMNO Sidelining MCA and Favoring DAP? UMNO Leaders Refute Claims by Cheah Soon Hai

Dato' Sri Cheah Soon Hai, the former Vice President of MCA, claimed that MCA is being ignored by UMNO and suggested that the latter is more inclined to collaborate with DAP. Several UMNO leaders, when inquired, denied these allegations.

Dato' Sri Shahaniza, a senior UMNO official, stated that MCA continues to participate in UMNO's activities. In some state governments led by Barisan Nasional, MCA leaders also hold important positions, such as in the state of Pahang.

In an interview with 'Free Malaysia Today', she cited examples such as Wong Thak Ju, Chairman of the MCA Tamparuli Division, who was appointed as a state assembly member in Pahang, and Dato' Wang Shaoteng, former head of MCA's youth wing, who was appointed as the special affairs officer to Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Seri Ahmad Zahid.
Nuruama urges MCA to continue cooperating with UMNO to revitalize Barisan Nasional, which lost national power after the 14th General Election.
"Where is the evidence that MCA is being marginalized? The MCA President, Dato' Seri Wee Ka Siong, also attended UMNO's 79th anniversary celebration."

She advised MCA to focus more on strengthening Barisan Nasional in order to win the 16th General Election.

UMNO's Women's Youth Leader, Dato' Nuruama, also urged MCA to continue its collaboration with UMNO to revitalize the Barisan Nasional, which lost national power after the 14th General Election.

"Barisan Nasional is the best coalition representing all ethnic groups, and it was widely recognized before the rise of Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional. We should not only consider our own parties but the whole nation."
