(Serian, 1st) Police launched a three-day special anti-drug operation (Ops Tapis Khas), arresting a total of seven individuals suspected of involvement in drug-related cases. Among them, two were arrested in separate raids for allegedly possessing drugs, with police seizing methamphetamine (ice) and Erimin 5 pills.
This operation was carried out from June 28th to 30th by the police Narcotics Crime Investigation Team in collaboration with personnel from the Serian District Police Headquarters, aiming to crack down on drug-related crimes in the area.
Serian District Police Chief, Superintendent Freddy Bin Stanislaus Bian, stated that police conducted raids in Serian town, arresting a local man and a local woman, both suspected of drug possession.
During the operation, police seized three Erimin 5 pills and 0.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine (meth).
Urine tests for both suspects returned positive for drugs. Police are currently investigating them under Section 12(3) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (possession of drugs) and Section 15(1)(a) (drug consumption).
In addition, police also launched operations in Balai Ringin, Kampung Lebor, and Kampung Rimba Padi, arresting another five individuals suspected of drug abuse.
These five are also being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Freddy stated that the police will continue to intensify efforts to combat drug-related crimes and warned all those involved that they will face strict enforcement, with repeat offenders facing heavier penalties under the law.
He also called on the public to actively provide information to the police about drug abuse and trafficking activities in the Serian area, in order to jointly combat drug crimes.
