(Kuching, 1st) The Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) will be holding the 'Depo Nursery Open Day @ DBKU' on July 4 at the Petra Jaya Depo Road Nursery, featuring horticultural product sales, exhibitions, and community activities.
This event will take place from 7:30am to 5:00pm, aiming to promote a horticultural culture, encourage the creation of green and sustainable landscapes, and raise public awareness about plant management and environmental protection.
The city council welcomes the public to actively participate. The event will also serve as a platform for plant enthusiasts, horticultural industry players, and residents to purchase a variety of gardening and landscaping supplies at discounted prices.
Additionally, experts and related organizations will be present at the event to conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and demonstrations.
Key topics include plant care techniques, sustainable management methods using organic waste to compost, as well as the characteristics, uses, and development potential of bamboo plants.
There will also be a variety of exciting activities during the event, such as flower arrangement competitions, bonsai arrangement competitions, sand art creation, T-shirt painting, coloring contests, and a horticultural tools and supplies expo.
Other activities include a bamboo plant seminar and demonstration led by Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC), a bonsai management lecture by Kejiranan Mesra (KJM), a composting seminar by DBKU’s Health and Environment Unit, and a plant management demonstration by DBKU’s Landscaping Unit.
