(Singapore, 8th) A family of four traveled to Singapore for vacation, but tragedy struck when a mother and daughter were hit by a car while crossing the street. The 6-year-old girl was dragged under the car and, despite emergency medical efforts, passed away. The involved 38-year-old female driver is assisting with the investigation.

This horrific accident occurred on Friday (6th) at around 11:40 am, at the exit of an open-air parking lot outside the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Chinatown.

According to Shin Min Daily News, when their reporter arrived at around 1:20 pm, there were three police cars at the scene. Officers had set up a cordon, sealing off two lanes to investigate. The observed involved sedan was parked diagonally by the curb, with numerous blood-stained tissue wads scattered behind it, and a trail of blood about 70 centimeters long on the pavement about a meter away.

Soon after the accident, the victims' family was transported to the hospital, while the involved female driver remained at the scene to cooperate with police investigations. Around 3 pm, the driver was escorted from the scene by officers.

Eyewitness Mr. Su (55) told the reporter that at the time, a dark blue BYD sedan was driving out of the open-air parking lot and hit a mother and daughter who were crossing the road while making a right turn.

“Both the mother and daughter were knocked down, and the little girl was even dragged under the car. It seemed like they were trying to cross the road to reunite with the father on the other side, but tragically, this happened.”

Another member of the public, Ms. Zhang (70), commented that she believed the crash victims were a family of tourists from Indonesia visiting Singapore.

“The mother appeared to have lighter injuries, but the girl’s condition was very serious, and there was a lot of blood at the scene.”

The police confirmed, upon inquiry, that around 11:50 am they received a report about a traffic accident involving a car and two pedestrians around South Bridge Road. The two female pedestrians were a 6-year-old girl and a 31-year-old woman. After being rushed to the hospital, the girl unfortunately passed away. A 38-year-old female driver is assisting with the investigation, which is ongoing.

The Civil Defence Force also confirmed they received a report at 11:45 am and transported the two to Singapore General Hospital.

Mr. Su revealed that when the girl was extracted from under the car, she was covered in blood, her face bleeding profusely, and she was already unconscious.

“Someone was performing CPR on her at the scene, but she did not respond at all.”

He said the whole ordeal was heartbreaking to witness.

Member of the public Mr. Lin (70) said that after the incident, the girl’s father was extremely emotional, clutching his severely injured daughter tightly, crying out and begging for help, visibly consumed by grief.
根据网上流传的画面,女童母亲一开始昏阙在马路上,事后一度恢复了意识,但手臂和腿部相信都有伤势。
“It was truly heartbreaking to watch, and the girl’s condition seemed dire.”

According to footage circulating online, the girl's mother initially fainted at the scene but later regained consciousness; her arm and leg are believed to have been injured.

It was reported that after being dragged under the car and sustaining critical injuries, the girl’s abdomen was believed to have been run over, and while waiting for rescue, she continued to cough up blood.

During the police investigation, the involved female driver wandered around the scene repeatedly, at times holding her head in her hands, sometimes looking down and saying nothing, her expression filled with deep regret.

After the female driver was taken away by officers, her husband told reporters that his wife had over ten years of driving experience. That day, she went to Chinatown by car to pick up their 6-year-old son from school, never expecting an accident would happen.

“When she called me, she was crying non-stop and was very worried about the victims.”

He also noted that immediately after the accident, his wife got out of the car to check on the victims and called for an ambulance. The son in the car was badly frightened and kept crying.

“She is truly remorseful and feels very guilty.”
