A family of four was traveling in Singapore when a mother and daughter were tragically knocked down while crossing the road. The 6-year-old girl was run over and trapped under the car. Despite being rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment, she passed away. The 38-year-old female driver involved is assisting with the investigation.
This horrific accident occurred on Friday (6th) at around 11:40 am at the open-air carpark exit outside Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Chinatown.
According to Shin Min Daily News, when their reporter arrived at about 1:20 pm, three police cars were on scene, police had cordoned off two lanes to conduct investigations. The involved car was observed parked diagonally by the curb, with many bloodstained tissues scattered behind it, and a blood trail about 70cm long still visible on the road about a meter away.
Shortly after the accident, the victims were sent to the hospital, while the motorist remained at the scene to cooperate with the police. At about 3 pm, the driver was finally led away by officers.
Eyewitness Mr. Su (55) said the dark-blue BYD car was exiting the open carpark and made a right turn, hitting the mother and daughter as they crossed the road.
"Both were knocked down, and the little girl was even trapped under the car. It seemed like they were crossing to meet the father on the opposite side, but tragedy struck unexpectedly."
Another witness, Ms. Zhang (70), said that those involved in the accident appeared to be a family of four, tourists visiting from Indonesia.
"The mother’s injuries looked minor, but the girl’s condition was much worse—there was a lot of blood at the scene."
Police confirmed receiving a report at about 11:50 am that morning about a traffic accident involving a car and two pedestrians along South Bridge Road. The two female pedestrians were a 6-year-old girl and a 31-year-old woman; they were both sent to the hospital, where the girl sadly died. A 38-year-old female driver is assisting police with ongoing investigations.
The Civil Defence Force also confirmed receiving a report at 11:45 am and transporting both to Singapore General Hospital.

Father Clutches Daughter, Weeping Bitterly
Mr. Su shared that when the girl was rescued from under the car, she was covered in blood, with her face also streaming with blood, and she was already unconscious.
"Someone attempted CPR at the scene, but there was no response from her."
He said the whole process was heartbreaking to witness.
Member of public Mr. Lin (70) said that after the incident, the girl’s father was extremely distraught, tightly holding his severely injured daughter in his arms, crying out for help, visibly overcome with grief.
"It was truly heartbreaking to see. The girl's condition seemed very grim."
According to footage circulating online, the girl’s mother was initially unconscious on the road, and later briefly regained consciousness, but appeared to suffer injuries to her arms and legs.
It is reported that the severely injured girl, after being caught under the car, likely had her abdomen run over and was vomiting blood while awaiting rescue.
Driver Paces in Remorse, Husband: My Wife is Deeply Regretful
During the police investigation, the female driver kept pacing at the scene, sometimes holding her head in her hands, other times hanging her head, looking deeply remorseful.
After the driver was taken away by the police, her husband told reporters that she had over 10 years’ driving experience, and on that day, she had driven to Chinatown to pick up her 6-year-old son when the accident occurred unexpectedly.
"When I got her call, she was crying nonstop and very worried about the victims."
He added that after the accident, his wife immediately got out to check on the victims and called for an ambulance. Their son in the car was so frightened by the sudden incident that he kept crying.
"She truly blames herself and feels extremely guilty."
