A Norwegian man staged a dramatic scene on Thailand’s Koh Samui by stopping a car, assaulting its driver, stealing the vehicle, and leading police on a high-speed chase before ultimately being intercepted and arrested.
According to Thai media reports, the incident took place on February 5. Koh Samui police received reports of an assault and carjacking outside Krok Yai restaurant in Mae Nam district.
The 31-year-old victim, Nattapong, told police that a foreign man suddenly jumped in front of his pickup truck to block the road, then opened the driver’s door and punched him twice before forcibly stealing the vehicle and speeding away.
After receiving the complaint, Koh Samui police coordinated with Bo Phut police station to launch an interception operation. Authorities stated that the suspect sped wildly across the island, ignoring orders to stop and initiating a police chase.
Eventually, police successfully intercepted the vehicle and subdued the suspect in front of the Bo Phut intersection.

Police identified the suspect as Kristoffer, a 27-year-old Norwegian national. Upon arrest, the man was unable to communicate properly, stared blankly, and behaved aggressively throughout.
Investigations revealed that before coming to Koh Samui, Kristoffer had visited Koh Pha Ngan. Witnesses told police the suspect appeared dazed and was seen wandering aimlessly before launching his attack.
The victim, Nattapong, said he had worked in public transport for many years and served many foreign tourists, but had never encountered such a violent visitor. He confirmed he would pursue all legal action against the suspect.
