(Sibu, 5th) On July 31, Jiuting Chinese School held a professional teacher training course led by Kindergarten teacher Fathin, with the theme “Learning Through Play: The Development of Early Literacy Skills in Young Children.”
The course emphasized that play-based teaching methods can effectively cultivate children's early literacy skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. This holistic teaching approach not only enhances the fun of learning but also helps to inspire students' creativity, communication skills, and cognitive growth.
During the training, teachers actively participated in group discussions, exchanging various ideas and strategies for literacy activities suitable for different teaching stages (including kindergarten, lower primary, and upper primary). This collaborative atmosphere fostered valuable experience sharing and teaching reflection.
Overall, this training provided teachers with a valuable platform to improve their teaching skills, further strengthening their professional competence in promoting students’ language development and contributing to the overall effectiveness of student learning.
Principal Tao Meihua of Jiuting Chinese School highly commended the training, stating: “Play is the most natural way for children to learn.”
Through this training, teachers not only deepened their understanding of early literacy teaching concepts but also mastered more engaging teaching strategies, which are of great significance for enhancing students' interest in learning and language expression skills. In particular, the exchange and collaboration among teachers showcased our school’s spirit of motivation and collective growth. She stated that the school will continue to organize similar professional development activities in the future to further promote the improvement of Jiuting Chinese School’s teaching quality.
