(Borneo Bulletin, Bandar Seri Begawan, 16th) The Royal Brunei Armed Forces (ABDB) Defence Academy held its annual Sovereign’s Parade at the parade ground yesterday, where 50 officer cadets successfully completed 48 weeks of intensive military training and were awarded their officer commissions, officially embarking on a new stage in their military careers.
Among this cohort of commissioned officer cadets, there are 36 male and 14 female cadets. Of these, 20 will join the Royal Brunei Land Forces, 16 the Royal Brunei Navy, and 11 the Royal Brunei Air Force; three international officer cadets from Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand also participated in the commissioning ceremony. Notably, this is the first time Thailand has sent a representative, adding special significance.
The Crown Prince personally attended the Sovereign’s Parade, presenting the Sword of Honour and several other outstanding cadet awards as a recognition of exceptional performance. The Sovereign’s Parade symbolizes a significant milestone marking the completion of rigorous military training by the cadets and also reflects the Royal Brunei Armed Forces’ high standards for professionalism, discipline, and leadership qualities.
Prince Mateen accompanied the Crown Prince at the ceremony, which was conducted in a solemn and dignified atmosphere.
