Peace Plan’s Next Phase Demands Disarmament, Hamas States 'Impossible'

(Hamas, 12th) Hamas has stated that U.S. President Trump’s Gaza peace plan, which calls for Hamas to disarm, is 'simply impossible.'
A Hamas official told AFP in Gaza on the 11th: 'The proposed handover of weapons is impossible, and there is no room for negotiation on this.'
This signals that Israel’s desire to dismantle Hamas, as well as U.S. President Trump’s goal for lasting peace, will not be easily achieved.
Trump has already indicated that the issue of Hamas handing over weapons will be addressed in the second phase of the peace plan.
Meanwhile, Hamas Political Bureau member Hossam told AFP in Doha, Qatar, on the 11th: 'I believe that no observer or interested party foresaw that this war would last for two years… We hope not to repeat the tragedy, but if war comes again, the Palestinian people and resistance forces will go all out, using every means to repel the aggression.'
He said that the negotiations for the second phase of the ceasefire agreement 'will require more complex discussions, far from being as simple as the first phase.'
He emphasized that Hamas leaders are based in Gaza, that this land is their ancestral home, and that 'the so-called plan to expel Palestinians (whether or not they are Hamas members) from their homeland is utterly absurd.'
U.S. Central Command chief Cooper stated that no American troops will be deployed to Palestinian territory.
He posted on social media on the 11th that he had just concluded a visit to Gaza; the visit aimed to discuss the establishment of a 'civil-military coordination center' led by Central Command, which will help stabilize the conflict situation.
Currently, Israel has completed the first phase of withdrawal from Gaza, and Hamas is also set to release 48 detainees as agreed on the 13th.
