(Kuching, 18th) A traffic accident occurred last night at Mile 8, Penrissen Road, resulting in the death of a 51-year-old man and serious injuries to another person.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, at 11:35 p.m. last night they received an emergency call reporting that a Honda Civic EG6 had allegedly skidded off the road and plunged into a roadside drainage ditch.
The Kota Sentosa Fire and Rescue Station immediately dispatched a rescue team to the scene, arriving within seven minutes. Firefighters found two adult male victims, aged 51 and 23, both of whom had been ejected from the vehicle during the collision.
Rescuers used stretchers to safely lift both victims and move them to the roadside. One of the victims was still conscious but sustained severe injuries and was later taken by Ministry of Health ambulance to Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment.
The other victim was examined by medical personnel at the scene and confirmed dead on the spot.
This rescue operation was led by the duty commander, involving six firefighters and a rescue vehicle, and concluded at around 1:10 a.m.
The police and Ministry of Health personnel were also present to assist and conduct further investigations.
