(Bintulu, 9th) Due to continuous rainfall, water levels have risen in Kampung Kemunting and Rumah Roselind areas. The Civil Centre Hall temporary shelter was opened at 12:30 last night to accommodate affected residents.
Bintulu Civil Defence Department officer, Civil Defence Captain (PA) Mohd Johari Mohd Taufik, stated that as of the initial report at 4 am this morning, a total of 56 victims from 14 families (KIR) had been recorded, including 25 males and 31 females.
"Among them, Kampung Kemunting had 23 victims, including one male person with disabilities, one elderly male, and one elderly female. In addition, there were nine adults (four men and five women) and eleven children (three boys and eight girls)."
"Rumah Roselind had 33 victims, including seven adult males, eleven adult females, six male children, four female children, as well as three baby boys and two baby girls," he stated in a statement today.
The statement pointed out that all victims have been provided with initial food kits (Kit Makanan Permulaan, KMP).
From an emergency preparedness perspective, the agencies currently stationed at the shelter include two members of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force and two members of the Royal Malaysia Police.
"The shelter is currently in a controlled and safe state. The latest updates about the flood disaster will be provided at any time."
