(Mukah, 9th) Community leaders and ethnic leaders (Ketua Masyarakat dan Ketua Kaum, abbreviated as KMKK) continue to play the crucial role of a bridge between the Sarawak government and the people, especially in conveying development policies, caring for community welfare, and ensuring harmony in rural areas.
Mukah District Officer Peleadzman Ahip stated that grassroots leadership is vital in ensuring that state development information reaches every citizen.
He said: “To recognize their demonstrated efforts and commitment, the Sarawak government has introduced an additional allowance of RM400 for each of the approximately 7,000 KMKK across the state.”
“This allowance is expected to benefit all KMKK who actively fulfill their duties and ensure peace and prosperity in the villages under their charge.”
He made these remarks during a speech at the recent “Mukah District KMKK and N.4 Pantai Damai Constituency KMKK Delegation Dinner” held at Kingwood Hotel.

On a related note, Mukah Division Temenggong Hendi Suhai pointed out that such events involving KMKK from different areas help to enhance mutual connections.
He said: “At the same time, it also promotes cooperation, the exchange of experiences and viewpoints, and enhances work quality together.”
“Additionally, this further strengthens an optimized and effective governance system.”
Hendi added that such activities should continue to be organized to maintain and consolidate existing cooperative relationships.

Earlier, about 40 KMKK from the N.4 Pantai Damai constituency, led by delegation chairperson Penghulu Sidek Sitam and event coordinator Zaini Tanggek, visited Mukah for an exchange program.
During the visit, the delegation toured the Oya Melanau Heritage Gallery (Galeri Warisan Melanau Oya), Jerunei Puteri, Sapan Puloh, and observed the sago (sago flour) processing at Kampung Tellian.
