(Naypyidaw, 24th – Comprehensive Report) The Myanmar Armed Forces recently held the first rainy season tree planting activity of 2026, taking concrete actions to promote environmental protection and ecological conservation efforts.
The event took place on Monday near the Ye Zin Dam in Zeyathiri Township, Naypyidaw. Myanmar Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Ye Win Oo personally attended and planted a teak sapling at the site.
In his speech, Ye Win Oo stated that the tree planting activity aims to protect the environment, improve climate conditions, provide shade, and actively contribute to national economic development.
He said that all military regions, units, and divisions of the armed forces hold tree planting activities every year. From 2011 to the third event in 2025, the families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy, and Air Force) have cumulatively held 44 tree planting events, planting a total of 208,425 saplings.
He noted that this year’s first tree planting activity plans to plant 2,400 saplings, including teak, ironwood, mahogany, and rubberwood, among other tree species.
Ye Win Oo emphasized that, in addition to tree planting, it is even more important to ensure the survival rate and growth of the planted trees, with an increased focus on follow-up care, in order to truly realize the benefits of forest conservation and ecological protection.
On the day, Ye Win Oo and his wife participated in the tree planting, with attendees joining in the activity together.
Attendees included Deputy Commander-in-Chief and Army Commander Khin Zaw Lin and his wife, federal ministers and their wives, Navy Commander Tin Win and his wife, Air Force Commander Tun Win and his wife, as well as many senior officers and their families.
Meanwhile, relevant military regions across Myanmar simultaneously carried out tree planting activities, planting various types of saplings. Statistics show that the Myanmar Armed Forces planted a total of 235,674 saplings that day.
