(Bandar Seri Begawan, 1st) To raise public awareness on the importance of pre-retirement planning, the Employees Trust Fund (TAP) successfully held the two-day "Lakastah Bersedia Program" retirement preparation seminar at the Ministry of Health’s Al-‘Afiah Hall from July 30 to 31.
This program was specifically targeted at individuals expected to retire in the next 10 to 15 years, covering aspects such as financial planning, physical health, family and social relationships, as well as asset management. The aim was to assist participants in building a more planned and secure retirement life.
The seminar attracted a total of 30 officials, staff members, and their spouses from the Ministry of Health. The participation of spouses helped enhance the overall effectiveness of joint retirement planning.
In addition to TAP’s retirement services department presenting on financial and retirement planning, other invited organizations also delivered special talks. These included Bank Central Brunei Darussalam (BDCB) which gave reminders on preventing financial scams; the "Family Wellbeing" unit shared elements of societal and family harmony; Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) explained Islamic inheritance planning; and the Health Promotion Centre focused on physical health management before and after retirement.
The seminar emphasized that retirement life should be planned early. Participants are encouraged to set income targets as early as possible, and to enhance savings through voluntary contributions to the SPK member account to supplement any shortfall in statutory contributions.
TAP hopes that the "Lakastah Bersedia" program will lay the foundation for early preparation among participants and assist them towards a more secure and meaningful retirement stage. The program will also continue to expand to other government departments.
