(Bandar Seri Begawan, 1st) A delegation from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) attended the 2025 Borneo International Integrity Summit (BIIS) held on July 29 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), Sarawak, engaging with several higher education institutions in the region to discuss topics on ethical leadership and governance.
This year’s summit, under the theme “Fostering Innovation, Transparency and Ethical Leadership for a Sustainable Future,” focused on three core topics: integrity governance, transparent leadership, and sustainable development. It is committed to strengthening the competency of young leaders in Borneo in integrity and accountability.
BIIS 2025 aims to enhance public awareness of the value of integrity and a culture of accountability, while also promoting cross-sector collaboration between educational institutions and government agencies. The summit also featured student roundtable discussions and special forums for civil servants, providing a strategic platform for inter-institutional and cross-border dialogue and exchange.
Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) also held bilateral meetings at the event, discussing future directions of cooperation with the leaders and top management of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak Branch and UNIMAS. This is part of its strategy to deepen academic and research cooperation with higher education institutions in Sarawak.
The active participation of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak also demonstrates its strong commitment to promoting regional integrity, ethical leadership, and academic exchange.
The Brunei delegation consisted of 15 students, led personally by UNISSA Rector Dato Dr. Norarfan, who was also invited as a distinguished panel member at the summit forum to share his insights.
UNISSA’s participation not only reflects its regional influence in the field of integrity and leadership, but also further expands its links with international higher education institutions, laying a foundation for building a more principled and sustainable future.
