Man Kidnapped for RM150,000 Ransom – 8 Suspects Remanded for 2 More Days to Assist Investigation

(Kuala Lumpur, 5th) Eight suspects, including one woman, accused of kidnapping a man in Pasir Puteh, have had their remand extended for two more days to assist with the investigation.
The 7 men and 1 woman, dressed in orange detainee uniforms and with their faces covered, were escorted by police to Kota Bharu Magistrate’s Court at 8:30 AM this morning for a remand application.
On Sunday, Magistrate Amirul Asraf granted the police application for a remand extension to facilitate further investigation into the case.

The eight suspects are aged between 20 and 46. They were arrested on the 2nd of this month at six locations including Kota Bharu, Machang, Pasir Puteh, and Tumpat. The kidnapped victim was successfully rescued.

According to reports, Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohamad Yusoff stated that the case occurred on September 26, when the victim was detained in a house without an address in Cherang Ruku, Pasir Puteh. The suspects extorted RM150,000 in ransom from his employer.
In addition to arresting the eight suspects, police also seized various items, including 15 mobile phones, 3 vehicles, an iron chain with 5 padlocks, masks, cable ties, and the clothing worn by the suspects during the incident.
Police are investigating the case under Section 385 (extortion), Section 342 (wrongful confinement), and Section 365 (kidnapping) of the Penal Code, as well as Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.
