(Kuala Lumpur, 5th) The Ministry of Communications is prioritizing the enhancement of internet service coverage and quality in 7 key focus areas to ensure that users nationwide enjoy more stable and comprehensive network access.
Deputy Minister of Communications, Teo Nie Ching, said that these areas include event venues, government higher education institutions, military camps, stadiums, tourist spots, hospitals, as well as highways and VIP corridors.
She pointed out that for event venues, the Ministry has identified 17 locations, all of which have been fully upgraded; as for government higher education institutions, after discussions and meetings with the Ministry of Higher Education, it has been decided that the plan will be implemented in 81 institutions nationwide.
“Additionally, regarding military camps, 73 camps have been earmarked for internet coverage upgrades and are currently at the request for proposal stage. In terms of stadiums, upgrades have been completed at one location, with works underway at two other sites.”
“For tourist spots, 23 locations needing upgrades have been identified, of which 6 have been completed. In the case of hospitals, 20 locations are planned for upgrades, with 7 already completed. Finally, for highways and VIP corridors, 7 locations are planned, with 1 already finished.”
She said this to the media after attending the closing ceremony of a running event today.
Teo Nie Ching noted that this initiative is being carried out in cooperation with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and service providers to ensure all key focus areas have satisfactory network access, especially during large-scale events or periods of increased visitor numbers.
