The report shows that Brunei passport holders can travel visa-free to 166 out of 227 destinations worldwide, reflecting the continued competitiveness of the Brunei passport in terms of international travel convenience.
Brunei's best-ever ranking was 17th in 2016. The Henley Passport Index is compiled using exclusive official data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and reflects global trends in passport visa-free travel.
Singapore has emerged from the group of countries previously tied for the top spot, reclaiming the title of the world's "most powerful passport" and setting a new record, with its citizens enjoying visa-free access to 195 out of 227 destinations worldwide.
France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain are tied for second globally, each having 192 visa-free destinations; Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Sweden are tied for third, each with 191 visa-free destinations.
