(Bandar Seri Begawan, 23rd) The Brunei National Immigration and Registration Department (NIRD) continues to crack down on immigration violations. Recently, enforcement officers launched two operations under 'Operation Kakas 2026' in Bandar Seri Begawan, detaining a total of three foreign nationals suspected of violating immigration laws for further investigation.
Among them, 'Operation Kakas 74/2026' was carried out at a bus stop in Mukim Kianggeh. After being inspected, a foreign national was detained and brought back to the enforcement department for further investigation.
Authorities indicated that the foreign national is suspected of violating Chapter 17, Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act, specifically for overstaying.
On the other hand, 'Operation Kakas 76/2026' was conducted at a residential premises in Mukim Mentiri. Officers inspected five foreign nationals, two of whom were suspected of violations, detained, and brought back to assist with investigations.
Preliminary investigations show that the two individuals are suspected of violating Chapter 17, Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act (overstaying) and Section 15(2) of Chapter 17 of the Immigration Regulations (not being employed by their original employer).
