(George Town, 23rd) Sun De'an, President of the World Chinese Writers Association, recently visited Penang to specially call on K.K. Tan (Yi Lang), Chairman of the Malaysia Chinese Writers Association Penang-Kedah-Perlis Joint Committee, and Wong Eng Chun, Chairman of the Northern Malaysia Literary Association. The parties held an in-depth exchange on the development of Chinese literature, cooperation among writers' organizations, and the promotion of future literary activities, in a harmonious atmosphere.
During the meeting, Sun De'an introduced the recent developments of the World Chinese Writers Association. He stated that the Association successfully held the 12th World Chinese Writers Congress in Brunei in 2024, and will successfully hold the 13th World Chinese Writers Congress in Miri, Malaysia, in 2026. Around 150 writers from home and abroad will participate, which will further unite Chinese writers worldwide and expand the platform for international literary exchange.
Sun De'an pointed out that the World Chinese Writers Association shoulders the mission of uniting global Chinese writers, promoting international literary exchange, carrying forward Chinese culture, and advancing the development of Chinese literature. Upholding the philosophy of 'openness, cooperation, and win-win', the association actively strengthens ties with Chinese literary groups around the world to jointly promote Chinese literature toward broader development.
When discussing the development of the Malaysia Chinese Writers Association, he noted that the association will迎来 its 50th anniversary in 2028. This is an important milestone in the history of Malaysian Chinese literature, not only witnessing the fruits of five decades of dedication to Chinese literature but also marking a key moment for uniting writers nationwide and passing on Chinese culture.
He said that the World Chinese Writers Association is willing to fully wield the advantages of its international platform. Through its network of affiliates around the globe and its connections with literary communities at home and abroad, it will assist in promoting and publicizing the Malaysia Chinese Writers Association's 50th anniversary celebration series, enabling more Chinese writers from different countries and regions to pay attention to, participate in, and support this major literary event, and further enhance the international influence of Malaysian Chinese literature.
K.K. Tan and Wong Eng Chun expressed their gratitude for Sun De'an's special visit, and highly affirmed the positive contributions made by the World Chinese Writers Association over the years in promoting international Chinese literary exchange and fostering connections among Chinese writers worldwide.
They stated that the Malaysia Chinese Writers Association Penang-Kedah-Perlis Joint Committee and the Northern Malaysia Literary Association share a common cultural mission with the World Chinese Writers Association.
