(Bandar Seri Begawan, 19th) The Brunei-Muara District Chinese Community’s Preparatory Committee for the 2026 Brunei Sultan’s 80th Birthday held its second preparatory meeting at 2:30 PM yesterday afternoon on the third floor of the Bandar Seri Begawan Chinese Chamber of Commerce, in the Dato Wang Kim Kee Conference Room, to further discuss the arrangements for the Chinese community's participation in His Majesty the Sultan's 80th birthday celebration.
The meeting was chaired by the Preparatory Committee Chairman Pehin Kapitan Dato Wu Jingjin, with enthusiastic attendance from committee members. The agenda included approval of the minutes from the first meeting held on the 12th of this month, review and follow-up on the implementation of previous resolutions, and a key focus on the preparations for the “Harmony with the People” celebration activities in conjunction with His Majesty’s 80th birthday.
During the meeting, participants were informed that the previously planned congratulatory archway project had been explicitly canceled. Following this, there were in-depth discussions and exchanges of opinions on topics including the process of the “Harmony with the People” event, program arrangements, venue layout, coordination among participating units, and logistics. Most preparation activities will follow the formats used in previous years to ensure the smooth execution of the celebration and to display the unity, spirit of cooperation, and high respect of the Chinese community toward His Majesty.
Additionally, the financial report was presented at the meeting, updating members on income and expenditure of the preparatory funds, and related financial arrangements were discussed to ensure the smooth progression of all preparatory tasks.
During the ad hoc motion segment, members actively expressed their views and exchanged opinions on relevant matters to further refine the celebration preparations.
The Preparatory Committee stated that it would continue to strengthen coordination and cooperation among all units, work wholeheartedly to implement all preparatory work, together send sincere blessings for His Majesty Sultan’s 80th birthday, and showcase the nation's harmonious, diverse, and united spirit through these festivity events.
