(Miri, 31st) — The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ Sarawak), through its Miri branch enforcement team, has launched a "Special Commercial Vehicle Operation" (Ops Khas Gempur Kenderaan Perdagangan) to ensure that commercial vehicle drivers and operators comply with road traffic regulations.
According to a statement issued by the Sarawak Road Transport Department, a total of 399 vehicles of various types were inspected during this operation, and 129 violation notices were issued for various offenses.
“The most common offense was non-compliant license plates, with 35 cases recorded, followed by technical vehicle violations with 24 cases, and driving without a license with 14 cases,” the statement noted.
The Sarawak Road Transport Department stated that such operations will continue to be carried out from time to time to strengthen prevention and enforcement efforts, in order to ensure the safety of road users and smooth traffic flow.
The department also urged all drivers and commercial vehicle operators to ensure their vehicles are in good condition and meet relevant technical specifications before being on the road.
