(Bandar Seri Begawan, 27th) Four representatives from Chung Hwa Middle School, Brunei, were invited today to observe the 22nd Guangxi Youth Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Competition & Cross-Regional ASEAN Invitation Competition, joining young technology enthusiasts from China and ASEAN countries to explore innovative applications of artificial intelligence and robotics technology.
It is reported that from July 28 to 30, 2025, the 22nd Guangxi Youth Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Competition & Cross-Regional ASEAN Invitation Competition will be grandly held at the Guigang Sports Center in Guigang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. The event is jointly organized by the Guangxi Association for Science and Technology, Guangxi Department of Education, and Guigang Municipal Government, attracting young competitors from 5 ASEAN countries and 10 provinces and regions, who jointly showcase their innovation and technical abilities in the AI and robotics fields.
With intensifying global competition in technology, the cultivation of youths in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics technology has become increasingly important. This competition not only provides a platform for the contestants to display their talents, but also builds a bridge of technological exchange and cooperation among ASEAN countries. Participants will gather here to compete fiercely around topics such as AI applications and robotics programming, demonstrating their innovative thinking and technical capabilities.
In recent years, cooperation among ASEAN countries in the field of technological innovation has grown ever closer, especially in the application and development of AI and robotics. The holding of this competition is aimed at further promoting technological cooperation and exchange within the region. Through the event, contestants from various countries can learn from each other, share experiences, and inspire new ideas and creativity in technological exchanges, thus boosting the overall technological level of the region.
As a specially invited observation group, CBC’s delegation led by teacher Zhang Qingfu and three Grade 8A students—Chen Endi, Hong Hao, and Lin Wenwu—deeply participated in the competition exchange activities, experiencing cutting-edge projects such as robotics programming, AI creative design, and smart home challenge, and shared their learning experiences with teachers and students from China and five ASEAN countries.
Principal Hjh Khoo Oi Lan of CBC pointed out that the holding of this competition is a positive response to youth science and technology education in various countries and helps to stimulate their interest in learning and innovative potential. She said that the school’s invitation to observe the competition this year is an important measure by the organizers to promote science, technology, and cultural exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative. We look forward to more joint training programs with China and other ASEAN countries in the future.
Leading teacher Zhang Qingfu commented: “The practical experience in AI education in Guangxi is impressive. Students transform theory into practice through competitions—this is a model worth learning from.” Team member Chen Endi said excitedly: “Chinese youths’ programming skills and teamwork opened my eyes. I hope similar activities can be held in Brunei in the future!”
It is foreseeable that the journey of CBC’s four teachers and students not only broadened their technological horizons but also built new bridges for educational cooperation between Brunei, China, and ASEAN countries. The school plans to incorporate the learning experience from this event into their curriculum and is actively preparing to participate in the next competition.
