Trafficking Over 5 Kilograms of Cocaine: Thai Female Drug Trafficker Faces Possible Death Sentence

A 30-year-old Thai female drug trafficker, who attempted to smuggle cocaine worth 1.05 million Ringgit into our country, is facing the possibility of a death sentence or life imprisonment!

Customs Department Deputy Director (Central Zone), Dato' Sri Dr. Zulkifli pointed out that around 7 PM on the 18th of last month, Customs Department officials detained a 30-year-old Thai woman who had just entered our country from an East African nation at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Selangor.

He stated in a Thursday press release that officials discovered 5.22 kilograms of suspected cocaine encased in 16 white packages concealed within secret compartments sewn into her handcrafted woven bag.

He reported that initial investigations by the authorities suggested the suspect attempted to smuggle enough cocaine into our country to supply 80,000 drug users.

“The authorities are investigating the case under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and the suspect has been charged.”
