(China, 13th) Nong Rong, Deputy Director of the Central Office for Hong Kong and Macao Affairs and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, met with a delegation of senior Hong Kong media executives visiting the mainland in Beijing on Sunday (October 12th). Photos released on the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office's official website show that newly appointed Deputy Director of the Hong Kong Liaison Office, Sun Shangwu, also participated in the meeting.
According to comprehensive reports from HK01 and Ming Pao, delegation members included senior executives from Hong Kong’s major electronic media, leading newspapers, and new media, including HK01's Chief Media Strategy Officer, Fung Tak-hung.
Central government officials accompanying Nong Rong at the meeting included Sun Shangwu; Zeng Jian, Director of the Seventh Bureau of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office in charge of Hong Kong and Macao publicity and news coordination; Deputy Director Xu Luying; and Li Shuguang, Deputy Head of Publicity, Culture and Sports Department at the HK Liaison Office.
This marks Sun Shangwu’s first public appearance since taking up his new post, and also his first formal meeting with heads of Hong Kong media organisations.

According to public sources, Sun Shangwu, 56, graduated from Beijing International Studies University in 1993 and joined China Daily, where he served as a frontline political reporter, Deputy Director of the Domestic News Department, Deputy Director of the International News Department, Director of the Editorial Office, and has served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief for many years.
