(Osaka, 13th) The China Pavilion has won a gold award for the first time at an overseas World Expo.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the China Pavilion at the Osaka World Expo was awarded the Gold Award for Large Self-Built Pavilion in the Exhibition Category by the Bureau International des Expositions at the awards ceremony on Sunday (October 12).
This is China’s first gold award at an overseas comprehensive World Expo, and also the fifth consecutive time the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, on behalf of the Chinese government, has won an important award at an overseas World Expo since 1982.
The awards at this World Expo are judged by the Expo organizers and nine international experts from architecture, exhibition, and arts fields, and are categorized into exhibition, architecture, and theme interpretation, with awards set according to the size of the pavilion.
The Large Self-Built Pavilion award has always been one of the most competitive and highly watched awards at World Expos. Competing among 25 large self-built pavilions at this Expo, the China Pavilion stood out and won the Gold Award in the Exhibition Category for Large Self-Built Pavilions. The Saudi Arabia Pavilion and the Italy Pavilion won the Gold Awards for Architecture and Theme Interpretation in the same category, respectively.
Bureau International des Expositions Secretary General Dimitri Kerkentzes commented that the China Pavilion closely matched the Expo’s theme, not only allowing visitors to experience thousands of years of Chinese history and culture, but also showcasing China’s outstanding development solutions and responsibility for the future of society.
The China Pavilion at the Osaka World Expo covers an area of about 3,500 square meters, making it one of the largest foreign self-built pavilions at this Expo. With the theme “Co-building a Community of Life for Man and Nature—A Future Society of Green Development,” it takes “Unity of Heaven and Man,” “Green Mountains and Clear Waters,” and “Endless Vitality” as its main narrative threads, displaying the traditional ecological wisdom nurtured by 5,000 years of Chinese civilization, the concepts and achievements of green development in the new era, and looks ahead to China joining hands with other countries to build a beautiful vision of a community of life for humanity and nature.
