(China, 13th) — Xin Jie, chairman of the Chinese real estate giant Vanke Group, has resigned for personal reasons.
According to reports from CLS and The Paper, on Monday (October 13), China Vanke Co., Ltd. announced at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that the board of directors received a written resignation letter from chairman Xin Jie on Sunday (12th).
The announcement stated that Xin Jie had applied to resign from the positions of non-executive director and chairman of the company for personal reasons, and will no longer hold any position in the company after his resignation. At the same time, at the 24th meeting of the 20th Board of Directors, Huang Liping was elected as chairman, with the term starting from the date of approval by the board until the end of the 20th board’s term.
According to Vanke’s official website, Xin Jie is still listed as group chairman.
Chinese social media had posted on Saturday night (11th), claiming that Xin Jie was taken away during a meeting in Shenzhen on September 18 and has been missing since.
Public information shows that Xin Jie was born in 1966 and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering from Shenyang University of Technology in 1988; in 2005, he obtained an MBA from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; he is currently a senior engineer and senior economist.
He once worked for Shenzhen Sentury Garden Hotel Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Great Wall Investment Holding Co., Ltd., and Shenzhen TIANJIAN (Group) Co., Ltd. He is currently Party Secretary and Chairman of Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd.
On January 27 this year, Vanke announced that Xin Jie, Party Secretary and Chairman of Shenzhen Metro Group, would succeed Yu Liang as chairman of the 20th Board of Directors; in April, Xin Jie made his first public appearance as chairman of Vanke Group. On June 27, Vanke convened its 2024 annual shareholders' meeting, with Xin Jie, as chairman of both Shenzhen Metro and Vanke Group, attending and chairing the meeting with executives.
According to earlier reports, Xin Jie’s most recent public appearance was at the end of August this year, when he attended as an important guest the signing ceremony for a strategic agreement in Shenzhen between KONE Elevator, Shenzhen Metro Group, and Vanke Group.
