Criticized for Gaining Weight, Suddenly Closed Weibo for 7 Days – Fish Leong Finds Everything Changed After Returning

Ballad queen Fish Leong has recently been making bold moves on social media, drawing intense attention from the public. Earlier, she suddenly shut down her Weibo account without warning, leading to speculation that it was due to political sensitive topics. However, the real trigger was traced back to her January 3rd concert in Xiamen. At the time, Leong was not in peak form and appeared noticeably fuller, causing some harsh netizens to launch a torrent of ridicule, which left her disheartened and prompted her decision to retreat. Although rumors spread that she was planning to “delete” her account and quit for good, by the early morning of the 15th her Weibo was indeed reactivated as scheduled, but everything had already “changed beyond recognition.”

After Fish Leong reopened her Weibo, the account was set to “one-click protection” mode, making it more difficult to search for, and the homepage could no longer be followed; by the afternoon, restrictions were further tightened: only those whom the blogger followed could comment, and nearly all previous posts were hidden, with only a few forwarded messages from the past six months remaining. This effectively downgraded her Weibo from an “interactive exchange” platform to an “official bulletin board.” In sharp contrast, she continues to update normally on Xiaohongshu and Douyin, making it clear this is her silent protest against Weibo’s toxic online atmosphere.

In fact, this isn’t the first time Fish Leong has practiced social media “detox.” In 2024, she abruptly closed both her Facebook and Instagram accounts, but this targeted “cold treatment” of Weibo is more like she’s seen through the platform’s “fan circle” infighting and rampant guide-by-marketing chaos. Industry insiders analyze that Leong’s audience consists primarily of mature, professional women—a core fan group whose style aligns more closely with Xiaohongshu, which may be why she feels emboldened to “give up” Weibo’s traffic.
