(Germany, 28th) — A regional passenger train in southwestern Germany derailed in a forested area, resulting in three deaths and multiple injuries.
According to AFP, German police reported on Sunday (July 27) night that a train derailment occurred that day in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, causing three fatalities and several passengers to sustain serious injuries.
Police said the incident took place at 6:10 pm on Sunday evening (Singapore time: Monday, 12:10 am), when the passenger train traveling from Sigmaringen to Ulm suddenly had two carriages derail during its journey. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
The train was carrying about 100 passengers. After the accident, some carriages were overturned. Currently, all passengers have been evacuated from the carriages.
German Chancellor Merz posted on social media, expressing condolences to the victims and stating that all available resources will be mobilized to support rescue efforts.
