Immigration Department Raids and Detains Seven Foreign Nationals Investigated for Overstaying and Illegal Work

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 5th) The Enforcement Unit of Brunei's Immigration and National Registration Department recently carried out multiple enforcement actions in Bandar Seri Begawan and Belait District, checking a total of 38 foreign nationals, among whom 7 were detained on suspicion of violating immigration regulations to assist with further investigations.

The operations were launched by the Immigration Department's Enforcement Unit in Bandar Seri Begawan and Belait District, with inspection sites including a children's playground in Berakas A, rental houses in Jangsak and Kota Batu, as well as several locations in Belait District.

According to the Immigration Department, the seven foreign nationals who were detained were suspected of violating multiple provisions under Chapter 17 of the Immigration Act, including overstaying, failing to present valid travel documents, not working for their original employer, and engaging in work inconsistent with the occupation stated in their passports.

The authorities stated that all detainees have been taken to the Enforcement Unit's office for further investigation to clarify the alleged illegal activities.

The Immigration Department also urges the public to actively cooperate with enforcement efforts and to provide any information regarding illegal immigration activities to the Enforcement Unit.
