Canadian Man Flies for Hours Just for the Last KFC Buffet

Many people often say that no distance is too far for a good meal. But one Canadian man took it a step further—he actually flew a plane for several hours just to have a fried chicken buffet.

Glen Powell is a real "jack-of-all-trades": he works in film and television production, loves cooking, and is also a licensed pilot.

Recently, on a whim, he decided to fly solo to southeastern Saskatchewan, Canada, just to enjoy a kind of fast food that has become extremely rare: the KFC buffet.

This buffet was once a hallmark of the KFC brand, but now only a handful of locations remain in North America.

The KFC restaurant in Weyburn is now the only location in Canada that still offers the KFC buffet. Although it almost faced closure about a decade ago, it ultimately stayed open—and business is still booming.

For Powell, flying for several hours was nothing, because he got to experience a "fast food era" that has long since disappeared.

In an interview with CTV News, he recalled: "Manager Larry chats with every person who comes in—he really talks to each customer. You can see that he really cares about his restaurant... It really surprised and touched me."

Powell said that he learned about this "fast food secret" in Saskatchewan from another YouTube creator, and he immediately decided he had to experience it for himself.

He said the trip to Weyburn also brought back many memories from his TV production days. "I shot a lot of KFC commercials when I was making TV ads, and I've seen firsthand how KFC has changed in the past 30 years," he said.

Powell said the journey for fried chicken was absolutely worth it. "All the food was fresh, and the prices weren't expensive. Fast food is often very pricey these days, but the quality isn't always good. That restaurant was packed, the food quality was high, and the price was reasonable."

He laughed and said, "This trip was really worth it."
