(Reporting on the 16th) The Ping Pong Team of Chung Hwa Middle School Brunei delivered an outstanding performance at the recently concluded '2026 National Youth, Open, and Veteran Table Tennis Championships', securing a remarkable haul of 2 golds, 3 silvers, and 5 bronzes, showcasing the school’s achievements in sports education.
This event took place from June 6th to 7th at the Tutong Sports Complex. Chung Hwa Middle School (Brunei) sent 20 student representatives to compete, who faced strong opponents calmly and performed excellently.
In the individual events, Lin Weiqing clinched the gold medal in the U12 (Under-12) Girls' Singles; Huang Junde took the silver medal in the U12 Boys' Singles; Liu Jiayu and Hong Zhenkai took the silver medal in the U15 Girls' Singles and the bronze medal in the U15 Boys' Singles respectively.
The U19 category was especially competitive. Chen Weishan stood out and won the gold medal in the Girls' Singles, while Liu Jia'en took home a bronze medal in the same event.
The doubles events also yielded great results. Liu Jia'en and Chen Weishan, with excellent teamwork, took the silver in the U19 Girls' Doubles. Sun Kaixin and Lin Keying, as well as Liu Jiayu and Lin Weiqing, each took bronze in the Girls' Doubles.
Additionally, Liu Jia'en paired with Zhang Zhenming in the Mixed Doubles event and secured a bronze medal.
The school stated that the total haul of 2 golds, 3 silvers, and 5 bronzes is a testament not only to the athletes’ personal efforts but also to the long-term effectiveness of the school's push for integrated sports and education. Every medal represents the athletes' dedication to training and the meticulous guidance of the coaching team.
