(Bandar Seri Begawan, 16th) His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei emphasized that newly appointed cabinet ministers must always fulfill their duties with honesty, integrity, and ethical conduct, ensuring that government institutions remain free from nepotism, favoritism, and any form of abuse of power, in order to uphold the government's credibility.
His Majesty made these remarks during the 92nd Cabinet Ministers' Meeting held recently at Istana Nurul Iman.
His Majesty pointed out that this meeting would hear reports from the three Coordinating Ministers on their respective functions, roles, and areas of authority, and hoped they would outline the plans that have been developed, as well as the coordination mechanisms and operational frameworks to be adopted in the future.
"I hope the three Coordinating Ministers will report on the plans that have been formulated, especially regarding the mechanisms, coordination, and coordination frameworks to be implemented."
His Majesty stated that the report from the Minister of Economy and Industry should also include the relevant plans that have been drafted, including a review of which departments should fall under the ministry's jurisdiction, to ensure a smooth transition.
At the same time, His Majesty welcomed other cabinet members to offer their opinions and suggestions after listening to the Coordinating Ministers' reports, to ensure that the coordination and supervision work in the three key priority areas of national security, economic, and social development can be carried out more systematically.
His Majesty expressed gratitude for Allah's grace, which enabled the smooth convening of the 92nd Cabinet Ministers' Meeting, and noted that this was the first meeting since the appointment of new cabinet ministers for the 2026–2030 term.
His Majesty also extended warm congratulations to all newly appointed cabinet ministers and welcomed the participation of royal family members in the cabinet meeting.
"I believe that with their talents and experience from the previous government, they will be able to play an important role in the new cabinet."
Speaking about the new cabinet lineup, His Majesty stated that the appointments have attracted wide attention both domestically and internationally, with various sectors of society, especially through social media, expressing different views.
However, His Majesty noted that overall, the new cabinet has received generally positive feedback. At the same time, the public also holds high expectations, hoping that the new team can accomplish their mission excellently and achieve even better results than the previous term.
His Majesty emphasized that any constructive criticism should be seen as a driving force for progress, prompting individuals to constantly reflect and improve on shortcomings, thereby serving the nation and its people better.
