(Bandar Seri Begawan, 24th) In order to promote traditional Chinese wellness culture and improve public health, the Brunei Wushu Association has specially invited four renowned Baduanjin experts from the Wushu School of Beijing Sport University to Brunei to hold an on-site Baduanjin teaching event, and welcomes the public to participate for free.
This event will be held today (Friday) at 3:30 PM at the martial arts training venue of Menglait Sport Complex. The public can attend without registration and are encouraged to arrive 10 minutes early.
The four invited teaching experts are: Professor and Master’s Supervisor Cang Hai, currently an executive director of the Chinese Wushu Association, who has presided over and participated in science and technology projects for the Winter Olympics and several Beijing ideological education topics; Professor and Doctoral Supervisor Liu Xiaolei, a double champion in World Wushu and Health Qigong, also a demonstrator for the National Sports General Administration version of Baduanjin, with her instructional videos viewed over 100 million times online; Professor and Doctoral Supervisor Wang Xiaojun, currently director of the Traditional Sports Health and Wellness Research Center, and originator of the “Traditional Chinese Medicine Sports Prescription” theory framework; and Dr. Zhang Jinkai, a national-level Health Qigong instructor and first-class Health Qigong judge.
The event will focus on teaching and practicing the standard Baduanjin routine. Baduanjin originated in the Northern Song Dynasty, with a history of over 800 years. Its movements are smooth and gentle, not only helping to strengthen organ functions, but also to improve physical fitness and psychological health, and it has positive effects for the prevention and rehabilitation of chronic illnesses.
At the event, the four experts will systematically explain and demonstrate on-site everything from basic stances and breathing regulation to the entire set of movements, enabling participants to thoroughly understand Baduanjin technique essentials and its wellness value, further promoting traditional Chinese wellness culture.
