(Bandar Seri Begawan, 7th) The Brunei Muara District Sultan's Birthday Celebration Committee members held a fellowship dinner last night at Katong Likun International Hotel restaurant.
This event was also organized in conjunction with the celebratory iftar activities of Ramadan. The incoming Chinese Ambassador to Brunei, Chen Shaochun and spouse, were invited as the guests of honor. Other invited guests included Member of Parliament Pehin Suyoi, Minister-Counsellor Chen Chuan of the Chinese Embassy in Brunei, and Embassy Secretaries Zhou Yuchuan and Zhou Haofang.
The aim of this gathering is to promote friendly ties between Chinese and Malay committee members, and to enhance mutual understanding and interaction.
Nearly 100 people attended, with Chinese and Malay celebration committee members and their families gathering together to enjoy delicious food. The scene was lively and harmonious, brimming with joy and a strong sense of friendship.
Those present at the gathering included Pehin Manso, Muara District Sultan's Birthday Celebration Committee member, Muara District Office officials, former officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, former Muara District Officer, among others.
In addition, participating Chinese committee members of the Muara District Birthday Celebration Committee included Brunei Chinese marriage registrar and committee member Lin Hanzhang, Dato Seri Lim Cheong Chin and spouse, Dato Seri Sim Wei Siang, Dato Lee Yu An and Wei Bofu spouses, Liu Zaisheng and spouse, Dr. Liu Shiquan, Dr. Zeng Ruiji, Lin Dencai, Lin Dengyuan, Cheng Yongnian, Sun Shengli, Qian Qiuzhan, Sun Dean, Huang Zhiping, as well as Huang Guanli, Lin Xiduan, Lin Pengguo, Chen Lizhen, Chen Xianlong, Lin Fujin and Lin Yuantai, among others.
Last night, during the iftar celebration, Lin Hanzhang delivered a speech on behalf of the group, stating that all members of the Brunei Muara District Sultan's Birthday Celebration Committee attended tonight's iftar gathering event. In this blessed month of Ramadan, he expressed his joy at being able to gather with friends from different ethnicities, cultures, and backgrounds.
He said that Ramadan is not only a month for their Muslim friends to fast, engage in self-reflection, and give thanks, but also a time that reminds us to care for others, to share, and to establish unity. Tonight, as everyone gathered, awaiting iftar and dining together, it truly reflected the spirit of diversity and harmony in our society.
He further emphasized that in our diverse society, communication and understanding between different cultures and religions are extremely important. Through events like these, everyone can not only foster friendships but also deepen their knowledge of each other's cultures and traditions, and coexist harmoniously in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
