(Singapore, 7th) Disney Cruise Line welcomed its latest addition—the Disney Adventure—into its rapidly expanding fleet with a dazzling entertainment showcase, celebrating the reimagination of Disney stories, characters, and music onboard. The elegant and artistic naming ceremony highlighted the ship's significance as Disney Cruise Line’s first vessel to sail in Southeast Asia.
Inside the ship’s Walt Disney Theatre, guests witnessed the magic of Disney storytelling, brought to life by performances from local singers and musicians, stunning video effects, and star appearances. Special moments included the arrival of Captain Mickey and Captain Minnie. A 23-piece orchestra, Hollywood Artists Hall of Fame inductee Jed Madela, and internationally renowned singer Dami Im, who has performed at Eurovision, led the audience through classic melodies from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel. The spectacular visual effects, with giant screens surrounding the stage, brought these scenes vividly to life, immersing the audience in the experience.
Josh D’Amaro and Joe Schott took to the stage with the performers, bearing witness to this historic moment.
D’Amaro stated: “The Walt Disney Company has always put storytelling and innovation at its core, and Disney Cruise Line brings these values to life in extraordinary ways. Our ships are ambassadors for the brand, bringing joy, wonder, and charm to destinations around the world.”
He added that as Disney Cruise Line’s very first ship based in Asia, “Disney Adventure” marks a new chapter for the company and allows more Asian guests than ever before to experience Disney’s unique magic and create unforgettable memories.
The ship’s godfather, Robert Downey Jr., also offered his blessings for the vessel and its guests. He remarked that “Adventure” represents the spirit built by the Disney creative team, and he was honored to serve as godfather to such a magnificent ship. He then officially declared: “I hereby name you, ‘Disney Adventure’—may God bless this ship and all who sail on her.”
The naming ceremony reached its climax as confetti rained down and Disney characters joined together to sing “Sail Away,” a traditional Disney Cruise Line program symbolizing the official launch of a new voyage.
The “Disney Adventure” carries on over a century of stories from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel, with seven immersive themed areas onboard, including “San Fransokyo Street” inspired by the movie Big Hero 6. Passengers can enjoy Broadway-style musical “Remember,” immersive dining, fireworks at sea, creative kids’ clubs, and adult lounges and bars. The ship also offers thrilling attractions, including the cruise line’s first-ever roller coaster at sea, “Stark Racer.”
It is understood that “Disney Adventure” is the eighth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet and its largest yet. The ship will launch its maiden voyage on March 10, offering three- and four-night itineraries for its inaugural season. In the coming years, the company plans to add five more ships, expanding the fleet further by 2031.
