Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar stated that the Thailand-Cambodia General Border Committee (GBC) is being held from today until Thursday in the capital Kuala Lumpur, and it is expected that the two countries can reach an agreement by Thursday.

“I have contacted all ASEAN leaders to seek their mandate and support. All of them have agreed to appoint their respective defense attachés to continue monitoring the situation and to participate in the meeting in Kuala Lumpur, with our country’s defense attaché coordinating cooperation among all ASEAN defense attachés.”

He said the United States and China will attend as observers, and he hopes consensus and a solution can be achieved, as this not only affects relations between the two countries but also impacts ASEAN’s reputation.

He said this today (the 5th) during the Prime Minister’s Q&A session in Parliament, when responding to Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee’s question regarding Malaysia’s role in mediating the Thailand-Cambodia ceasefire agreement.
