British pop queen Dua Lipa and her actor boyfriend Callum Turner tied the knot at the end of last month and then held a three-day celebration this week on the Italian island of Sicily, but it has sparked public discontent, with local residents protesting: "This is not your living room."
The couple invited friends and family to Sicily for the celebration, and the two were seen dancing intimately in the streets, filling the whole area with an atmosphere of happiness and joy. However, the wedding angered local residents because two public squares were closed off, and residents nearby were even forced to sign non-disclosure agreements. Locals posted signs and graffiti near the squares with protest messages such as "Our square is not your living room."
Due to the large-scale road closures for Dua Lipa's wedding, local residents not only faced parking problems, but those living nearby who could directly see the festivities from their windows were also disturbed. As compensation, Dua Lipa paid the residents £5,000 (about RM26,000) to make up for the inconvenience caused to the people of Sicily.
