On the 23rd, U.S. President Trump stated that the U.S. government is actively engaged in trade negotiations with China and hopes to reach a "fair agreement."
He noted this to the media at the White House.
He pointed out that the 145% tariff imposed on China will be "significantly reduced," emphasizing that "everything is actively progressing."
When asked when the U.S. would reduce tariffs, Trump answered that it "depends on them (China)."
Regarding whether the U.S. is in direct contact with China on trade issues, Trump said, "Every day."
He said, "This country will no longer lose money on trade. Every country wants to participate, even those that have taken advantage of us for many years, like China, but not just China, the European Union too. They have been taking advantage of us for years. Those days are over. We're going to make a lot of money for our people."
He stated, "We will no longer be the laughing stock of the world."
