(Bandar Seri Begawan, 22nd) As Brunei Ocean Week 2025 draws to a close, three brand new national marine awards have been officially established, aiming to recognize and encourage individuals and groups dedicated to protecting the nation's marine ecosystem.

The “Ocean Hero Award,” “Ocean Youth Grant,” and “Voice of the Ocean: Video Competition” are designed to celebrate and support marine conservation efforts through influence, innovation, and creative expression.

The “Ocean Hero Award” aims to honor Bruneians who demonstrate commitment in education, culture, or community action. Winners will receive a cash prize of BND 500, a diving course, and professional media support to expand their impact. Nominations close on August 3rd, and the top three finalists will be announced on August 8th.
The “Ocean Youth Grant” offers a BND 3,000 prize for individuals or teams aged 35 or under, to transform innovative ideas into practical projects tackling challenges such as plastic pollution or coral reef restoration. The grant includes mentoring from the Brunei Innovation Lab and support from the Poni Group. Submission deadline is August 5th, and the top three finalists will be announced on August 9th.

The “Voice of the Ocean: Video Competition” welcomes youths aged 12 to 21 to submit engaging ocean-themed videos of one to two minutes in length. Winners will receive a cash prize of BND 250 and a scuba diving course. The submission deadline is August 5th.
The winners of all three awards will be recognized at the “Ocean Gala Night” on August 12th, which is the grand finale event of Brunei Ocean Week 2025. These awards reflect our long-term commitment to cultivating generations of ocean guardians.
