Former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir emphasized that he did not refuse to transfer a plot of land in Kuala Lumpur to UMNO, thus refuting the accusations made by UMNO President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid.
He posted on his Facebook page yesterday (15th), denying the allegations made by Ahmad Zahid and the party’s supreme council member and Johor state assembly speaker Datuk Puad Zarkashi.
Mahathir stressed that, according to the court filing by UMNO Executive Secretary Datuk Sumali, the lawsuit to transfer the land to UMNO lists the registrar of the Federal Territories Land and Mines Department as the respondent, not himself.
“I don’t know how to describe their level of thinking. First, did they read Sumali’s original writ? According to the suit, the respondent is listed as the registrar of the Federal Territories Land and Mines Department, not me.”
“Second, the supporting affidavit of UMNO’s lawsuit has stated that the land transfer application dated October 27, 2015, includes a confirmation letter signed by four trustees, myself included.”

“This shows that I did not refuse to transfer the property to UMNO, I gave a consent statement as early as 2015.”
He emphasized that this UMNO lawsuit involves the registrar of the Federal Territories Land and Mines Department and has nothing to do with him.
He stated that he has already sued Ahmad Zahid for defaming him and now Puad Zarkashi has joined in.
“Stop the continuous lies and slander!”
“If it is due to misunderstanding and then slandering, maybe UMNO members need to reconsider whether the liars are qualified to be the president or the Johor state assembly speaker.”
