A 31-year-old man suspected of sending links to pornographic websites to a female colleague was brought to the Johor Bahru court on Wednesday morning to apply for an extension of detention to continue the investigation of the case.
The male suspect was arrested by the police yesterday (15th); this morning, wearing a purple detention outfit and handcuffed, he was escorted by officers to the court for the extension application.
When facing the media cameras, he initially lowered his head to avoid them but later raised his head to allow photographs to be taken, although he appeared slightly embarrassed.
Johor Bahru South District Police Chief Lavuu stated yesterday that after receiving reports from two women, the police summoned the man for investigation. The complainants are a 15-year-old student and a 27-year-old woman.
He stated that the case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code (attempt to insult a person's modesty through words or gestures) and Section 15(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (constituting non-consensual sexual offense).
However, he did not further disclose the identity of the suspect.
