(Miri, 22nd) The 24th term of the Miri Yang Clan Association Council will end at the close of this year. According to Article 17 and Article 18 of the Constitution, the Council will conduct its biennial re-election.
The Election Committee held its first meeting on October 20 at the association’s conference hall, and per the Constitution, the re-election will proceed by the means of nomination. The related matters are as follows:
1. Nomination Procedure
All eligible members interested in serving the Clan Association may collect a stamped and numbered nomination form in person at the Association Secretariat during office hours between November 24 and November 28, 2025. Office hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 12 noon, and 1:30 pm to 4 pm.
The nomination form must be signed by the nominee and must be proposed by one member and seconded by another member to be valid. Once completed, the form must be placed in the association’s nomination box by 12 noon on November 29, 2025 (Saturday); late submissions will not be accepted.
After the nomination deadline, the Election Committee will immediately open the box to count ballots and announce the list of nominees.
2. Election Details
If the number of nominees does not exceed 25, all nominees will be automatically elected as the new Council members. The confirmation meeting is scheduled for 7 pm on December 7, 2025 (Sunday) at the association’s conference hall.
If the number of nominees exceeds 25, a vote will be held in accordance with Article 18(1)(a)(v) of the Constitution. Voting will take place on December 7, 2025 (Sunday) from 8 am to 12 noon, with ballot counting beginning at 12:15 pm that day. The confirmation meeting will be held at 7 pm on December 14 (Sunday) in the association's conference hall.
3. Elections of Sub-Groups
According to Article 18(2) of the Constitution, the Youth Wing, Women’s Group, and Senior Group will each elect new sub-group members. Except for the positions listed in Article 18(3) of the Constitution, members of these three groups may not serve concurrently on the Council.
The leaders and deputy leaders of the Youth Wing, Women’s Group, and Senior Group will automatically become the respective principal and deputy leaders and will be included as members of the new Council. Each group must complete their elections and submit the list to the Election Committee for record by December 7.
