The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines announced on the 11th that China and the Philippines recently carried out law enforcement cooperation within the framework of Interpol, successfully intercepting and repatriating a major Red Notice fugitive, Hao, suspected of job-related crimes involving approximately 970 million RMB (566 million Ringgit).
According to Sing Tao Daily, this operation marks another positive step in law enforcement cooperation between China and the Philippines, signifying that judicial cooperation between the two countries is becoming increasingly routine. In December last year, law enforcement agencies from both nations completed the repatriation of nearly 200 Chinese citizens engaged in offshore gambling in the Philippines.
In addition, since the launch of the anti-corruption "Sky Net Action" in 2014 to 2024, China has repatriated more than 14,000 fugitives from over 120 countries and regions, among whom 2,999 were Party members and state employees. Of the "100 Red Notice Fugitives," 62 have been brought to justice, and a total of 66.62 billion RMB (38.861 billion Ringgit) in stolen assets have been recovered.
● Tracking the 100 Red Notice Fugitives
The "100 Red Notice Fugitives" have been key targets of capture since the launch of Sky Net Action. In April 2015, Interpol's China National Central Bureau released a list of 100 Red Notice fugitives, all of whom are fleeing state employees or key corruption suspects with solid evidence against them.
On June 10, 2023, Guo Jiefang, a "100 Red Notice Fugitive" on the run for 23 years, returned to China to turn herself in. She was the first of the "100 Red Notice Fugitives" to be brought back since the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and the 62nd "100 Red Notice Fugitive" repatriated since the launch of "Sky Net Action."
