According to the official WeChat account "Defense Ministry Release" on the 10th, in early to mid-December, the armies of China and Singapore will conduct the "Cooperation-2025" joint army training in Singapore. The joint training will last until December 18.
The Chinese military media outlet PLA Daily reported on the 11th that the opening ceremony of the "Cooperation-2025" army joint training was held on the morning of the 10th at the Jurong Camp of the 3rd Division of the Singapore Army.
"Defense Ministry Release" stated that the theme of this joint training is "joint urban counter-terrorism operations," focusing on mutual training and skills exchange in subjects such as demolition, sniping, and unmanned reconnaissance, as well as conducting command drills and live exercises. This is the seventh time that the Chinese and Singaporean armies have carried out this series of joint training, aiming to further enhance their joint counter-terrorism operational capabilities and deepen pragmatic exchanges and cooperation.
This joint training is based on the scenario of rescuing hostages, integrating specialized subjects such as sniper control, rapid entry, and battlefield medical aid; it is divided into four phases: skills training, segmented training, integrated training, and live exercises, with gradually deepening drills in tactics and techniques to strengthen the coordination between both sides.
Before the joint training starts, both China and Singapore plan to organize situation briefings, firefighting drills and other activities. Subsequently, both sides will also organize cultural and sports exchanges such as basketball and frisbee to further enhance mutual understanding.
Previously, Xinhua News Agency reported on the 8th that a Y-20 aircraft carrying Chinese personnel and equipment for the "Cooperation-2025" joint army training arrived at Singapore's Changi Air Base on the 8th. The report pointed out that this joint training is not only the seventh time that the Chinese and Singaporean armies have held the "Cooperation" series joint training, but it is also the third year since it was decided in 2023 to set "one topic cycle every three years."
Based on the subject of "joint urban counter-terrorism operations," the previous two years focused respectively on battalion command post exercises and battalion live integrated exercises; this year highlights brigade-level command post exercises and battalion-level live exercises, with the aim of further enhancing the two armies' coordination and capability in joint counter-terrorism operations.
